From Shanties to Shelters of Dignity: Voices from Manarani

Before the walls were raised and the roofs were laid, the families of Manarani lived in fragile structures—shanty houses made of rusted iron sheets, mud, and hope. These homes offered little protection from the elements, no privacy, and no sense of permanence. For many, the daily struggle was not just about survival—it was about holding onto dignity in the face of hardship.

Today, through the Homes of Hope initiative—powered by our partnership with Shelter Equity USA—those same families are stepping into safe, dignified homes built with care, compassion, and community ownership.

Voices from the Ground

Beneficiaries have shared their stories with tears and gratitude:

“We used to sleep with fear. When it rained, everything got wet. Now, my children sleep peacefully.”
“I never imagined having a toilet and bathroom of our own. It’s a new life.”

A Shelter of Dignity

Each home includes:

• Solar energy for lighting and charging
• A bicycle for market and school transport
• Private sanitation facilities for health and privacy

These are not luxuries—they are the foundation of a life with dignity.
